Top of the Hanoverian Breed in Verden

August 02, 2007, Verden. At the central mare show of the Hanoverian Association the 90 best three- and four-year-old broodmares as well as eight mares families competed. The sought-after Herwart von der Decken-Prize for the best mares family was given to three daughters of St.Pr.St. Carina by Calypso II, bred and exhibited by Hannes Brüning, Ochtmannien (pictured below). St.Pr.St. Red Chily by Rotspon, St.Pr.A. Faconnable by Fürst Heinrich and a two-year-old by Rotspon were awarded this most precious award the Hanoverian Association is giving.
For the first time mares with jumper pedigrees were shown in free-jumping on the show-grounds. 'This experiment was successful', said breeding manager Dr. Werner Schade. Champion mare became St.Pr.A. Estelle by Embassy/Don Juan (breeder: Herbert and Ute Steuber, Garstedt; owner: Ute Steuber, Garstedt). She embodies the ideal type of modern Hanoverian show-jumpers.
The class for broodmares with dressage pedigrees was won by the Don Cavallo/Grand Cru daughter St.Pr.A. Danny Belle, pictured below (breeder: Johann Klintworth, Brest; owner: Johann Quast, Hamburg). This three-year-old chestnut mare presented herself in an excellent way with charisma and with outstanding movements.
