FEATURE July 20, 2014: NATIONAL INSPECTION TOUR - September 12 - 24

From the Sept 13, 2013 National Tour, T.W. Littlerock completed the Long Format Mare Inspection. She was awarded a perfect 'ten' score for technique over fences. She was bred by Two Willow's Equine of Red Deer, Alberta.

FEATURE June 9, 2014: Canada Wins Bid to Host 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games (Equine Canada Press Release)

Ottawa, ON, June 9, 2014 - Today, members of the Bromont Bid Committee, along with Equine Canada President, Al Patterson and CEO, Eva Havaris, are extremely pleased to announce that the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) Bureau has unanimously awarded the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games™ to Bromont/Montreal as host city, with the Games to be held at the Bromont Olympic Equestrian Park.

This will be the first time in the history of the World Equestrian Games that the prestigious event has ever been held in Canada and only the second time outside of Europe, with the first time being in 2010 in Lexington, KY.

FEATURE April 5, 2014: CLRC 2014 Annual Meeting and Animal Pedigree Act Presentation

From the CLRC web site: The annual meeting for CLRC will be held on April 5, 2014 at the Exectutive Royal Inn in Calgary, located at 2828 23 St. NE. Registration will commence at 10:00 a.m. and the meeting at 10:30. A complimentary buffet lunch will be served at 12:30.

IMPORTANT: At 2 p.m., there will be a presentation and discussion regarding the review and possible repeal of the Animal Pedigree Act. Susie Miller or John Ross from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada will be in attendance to outline what is being proposed and to answer questions. This is , of course, a very important discussion for everyone in our industry and I encourage all member associations to make sure that someone from the association is in attendace at this meeting. Anyone is welcome to attend, even if they are not the official representative(s) of an association.

From Horse Industry Association of Alberta: Canadian Breed Associations should be aware some individuals within Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada are proposing repealing the Animal Pedigree Act. Please read the attached letter from Ronald Black, General Manager of the Canadian Livestock Records Corporation. This past weekends National AGM saw a changing of the guard with a new Chair elected following founding Chairman Chris Gould's previous announcment that he would step down this year. Congratulations to Charmaine Bergman, of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan our new Chair who was elected by acclamation at the CWHBA AGM and Seminar held March 15th in Leduc, Alberta. The meeting, which was set up to allow members from across the country to join by video conference from nine locations, ran on a tight schedule from noon until 5 pm.

Charmaine, who is a long serving National Director and most recently was the Secretary /Treasurer as well as Saskatchewan Chapter President, takes over the reins. Founding Chairman, Chris Gould, having been at the helm since the the beginning of the association in 1988, took the opportunity in his final Chairman's report, to give a brief synopsis of the CWHBA's 25 year history and its growth into one of the largest and most successful studbooks in North America. FEATURE March 7, 2014: LUMIERE - ON-[CAN]6109-03 G (Lynx x Heike II)

Maya Markowski and her Advanced level Dressage horse, Lumiere. Bred by Angela Hodgson of Elodale Stables in Ontario, he was purchased by Maya at 3 months of age. She has done all the training herself and is now enjoying her second year representing Canada in the Nations Cup in Florida. Read her Equine Canada bio - here.


The CWHBA Stallion Service Auction is an annual event that gives you the opportunity to breed to some of the best CWHBA Approved or Licensed breeding stallions. It's the deal of the millennium - where else can you get a reduced price on a breeding service, as bids start at 50% of the advertised service fee. Anyone can register to bid. PLUS - there is no GST/HST, another saving of 5 - 12%.

Your foal will be eligible for the Provincial Foal Futurity in your Province and is eligible for registration with a reputable organization, the CWHBA, which is internationally recognized by the World Breeding Federation. Your resulting foal will also be eligible for CWHBA sponsored Young Horse Performance Classes and extra prize money supported by the SSA.
