Charmaine Bergman - In Remembrance
2021 February 24 - A beacon has gone out far too early and far too quickly. Charmaine passed away today after a relapse of cancer that had attacked her spine. Always positive, she had led the CWHBA through a difficult recovery at the same time as she herself was recovering from an earlier cancer. Her welcoming attitude and constant dedication to the association was a beacon that drew new people into the fold. She was an avid and charming conversationalist who's knowledge and broad life experience made her comfortable in every setting. Her interest in people was genuine.
Charmaine's career with the CWHBA spanned more than 20 years and included service as President of the Saskatchewan Chapter, National Secretary and Treasurer and finally National Chair. She was also a senior inspector and qualified International Young Breeders judge as well as an accomplished dressage rider, breeder and stallion owner.
Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to her husband John, her brother Kirk, and her close circle of friends. RIP ...
Sudden loss of Warmblood breeder: Debra Lynn Symes 1969-2021
Heather Smith: It is with great saddnes that I share the sudden passing, on January 23, 2021, of Debra Lynn Symes, from Thelma and Louise Sport Horses. Long time member of the Canadian Warmblood and Hanoverian horse communities as a breeder of quality horses.
Deb was the founding spirit that was Thelma (Deb) and Louise (Heather Smith) Sport Horses. Her zest for life was second to none. Her ability to ride and reason with a reluctant horse was envied by many and her generosity with her knowledge and skills made her the pillar of Heather and Deb's breeding program. Horses bred by Thelma & Louise were sold across Canada and the United States and they participated in many Fall Classic Breeder's Sales.
Deb leaves to mourn her supportive husband of 30 years, Keith Robertson of Pincher Creek and her Partner and Best Friend, Heather Smith of Taber, AB.

Red Boots : Tip from Janine Olson
Every girl loves a pair of red shoes but last year my favorite footwear was a pair of redboots which saved one of my foals. Many of our friends followed Faiths journey last spring so for now I only want to remind people that if they hear of any foal born with angular limb deformity I am willing to rent out Faiths boots.
These boots came from a company named Redboot; they arrived from Argentina and were developed by an amazing Veterinarian, Agustin Almanza. Under verterinary care and intensive management these boots were intrumental in helping Faith walk, they supported and aided in the relaxing of her contracted front legs.
