Top Canadian Warmbloods in Ontario Announced

December 11, 2007 | Aurora, Ontario - The recipients of the 2007 Canadian Warmblood Ontario Chapter Awards were announced following the year's final classes at the Royal Winter in Toronto, Ontario. These awards, which are made to top performing Canadian Warmblood horses, are based on results obtained from provincial tabulations suitable for each discipline, and by verifying each horse's passported breed as recorded on the Equine Canada Results Database.

The winner in the category of Hunter was O'Reilly, a young gelding owned by Vimy Henderson and bred by MJ Farms in Olds, Alberta. Registered as MJ O'Reilly, this five-year-old by Odilon and out of a Fantast mare has been shown by his owner and her sister in the very competitive Adult Amateur 19-35 Division throughout the season, where he finished fourth place in the provincial year-end standings. O'Reilly is a graduate of Canada's Elite Warmblood Sale in Ontario, where he was made available for sale by his breeder.

It was South Wind who was awarded the winner in the category of Jumpers. The ten-year-old Canadian Warmblood gelding was campaigned by Bronte Gray-Rochon in the Amateur Jumpers. Registered as Beau Brummel, this top performer by Bajazzo and out of Aphrodite was originally bought from his breeder, Touchstone Farms in Mayerthorpe, Alberta, by the Gayford family.

The awards for the top Canadian Warmblood Hunter and Jumper were made during a special presentation at the Ontario Hunter Jumper Association Banquet, which was held on November 8th, in Kleinburg, Ontario.
